This box figurine has numerous references to famous racehorses. Under the hoof of one horse is a snail, which is a reference to the horse Escargot. The words “grease” and “tniap” refer to Grease Paint, a horse that used to run regularly in the Grand National. The cigar between the hind legs is in honour of the famous racer, Cigar.
