McRand International commissioned HK to create an event piece for the 1998 International Collectible Expositions held in Edison, New Jersey in April and Rosemont, Illinois, in June. 2500 pieces were available at each show. Due to unprecedented sales at Edison (all pieces sold out by Saturday afternoon), McRand implemented special procedures to ensure that collectors could purchase only one piece so that more could enjoy them. Five felines are featured on this box, and Mad Murphy makes an appearance with a mouse playing checkers. The game originally began as chess but was difficult to produce. Some boxes still have hints of the chess pieces on the board. Inside are two mice eyeing a mousetrap with cheese. Hallmarks include ©, star and heart, HBC logo, and Pc.
